There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely games.

Welcome to One Formula 1 Race statistical comparison of all time involved drivers’ results. I built the algorithm up to transfer race results which have reflected every sportsman’s talent and skills to the appropriate numbers. Of course, you can dispute things which you can find here, but do not take it too seriously. I’m just sorting numbers in relation of parameters set to final calculation.

I try to keep this is ongoing One Race alive. I believe that all these 921 sportsmen [involved till the end of 2024] deserve to be remembered.

I am a Formula 1 fanatic. Everything began in late seventies of previous century when for the first time I met the world of this kind of motor racing by incredibly coloured calendar at the office of gardener on our street. I was hit by car in sharp red and told that he was our almost local hero, Niki LAUDA. From the same moment I’ve been the Tifoso as well and nothing can change it.

As little boy I was initially impressed by all those colours. I drew cars as I remembered them from that calendar. My school notebooks were full of prancing horses and cigarette logos which I had everywhere around me and knew them as motor racing sponsors.

I began to watch races as well. Our black and white TV set inhibited my art feelings, but I found something new there, passion for racing.

I can’t forget those summer holiday Sundays with my grandparents. Grandpa sent me for the beer to the nearest pub. Granny prepared one of my favourite dishes (Wiener schnitzel with potato salad or pork belly with cabbage and dumplings) and baked the cake. After the lunch we moved to the living room and switched the TV on. They drunk the coffee and all together we watched the race.

I loved my grandfather’s comments of every Grand Prix. He had to compare drivers with his pre-war hero Louis CHIRON. I did not understand why he lived in past, but I really liked it. Today I know it; I do also live a part of my Formula 1 life there.

From the beginning I knew that the fundamental question had to come one day. Who is the best?

Entire my life I've been obsessed by numbers, I count everything countable. I love to read numbers to understand things.

In 2012 I decided to combine these two my passions. I had walked backwards through the history and collected the data from every Grand Prix during the next almost twelve years. It's a time to start to publish results. Of course, updates are very simple now, but I plan them in the end of every season only.

I set four comparison ladders [groups] here.

The first one is called Dream Grid and reflects qualification results of involved sportsmen as the average of their standings in 20 categories.

The second ladder Dream Race is built by average of different standings in 30 categories. This group is about my race observation and data capturing during the time from start green lights to checkered flag finish.

The Dream Weekend [people around Indianapolis have to forgive me] combines qualification and race together. There are 49 categories which create the final look of the order. This ladder explains me why I spent a lot of time and money to see complete three days of a lot of Grand Prix in my life. I've used top two dozens of "men at work" photos as the header of the website.

The last one is about Dream Sprint race. I decided to set this ladder as the result from 33 categories even if there is still very short history of this kind of F1 racing.

I can’t say that this is the most scientific way how to answer the basic mentioned question. My friend told me that for sure one of these two dozen sportsmen in each group has been the best of all. This comment has satisfied me; all of us have our own hero at this sport and he needs not match my numbers.
